Name: Gerry Hebert
Instrument: Wind Instrument

An active musician and educator, Gerry is a founding member of the Swinging Bovines, a professional concert touring saxophone quartet. Currently Gerry is Artistic Director of the Beat Niq Jazz & Social Club, manages and directs the Calgary Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Calgary Summer Saxophone Camp at Mount Royal College, serves on the board of CJAZZ - The Calgary Jazz Association and presents master classes and clinics as a Yamaha Performing Artist.

Gerry started the saxophone at age 11. His initial music experience came through school bands in the northern Alberta town of Fort McMurray. Upon graduation in 1985, Gerry chose music as a career and attended Grande Prairie Regional College , completing a 2 year diploma in music performance. In 1987 he moved his musical studies to Calgary and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Calgary in 1990. Determined to explore the world a bit, Gerry next went to Paris, France for an 8 month study period in French language and culture as well as to pursue further saxophone training. Returning to Canada in 1991 he found summer employment with the Naval Reserve National Band based out of Halifax and The Swinging Bovines were soon born. Since 1991, The Swinging Bovines have released 3 CD's and performed over 500 concerts on tours across Canada, the United States and into Europe.

With over 15 years of professional performing experience behind him, Gerry is very active throughout the musical community and in demand as a performer, private instructor and clinician. He has performed on 16 Compact Disc recordings and is also active in Arts administration, marketing and music publications.

Gerry Hebert plays the YAS875EXS alto saxophone.
