SPOTLIGHT ARTIST
Name: Isaac Agyeman
Instrument: Wind Instrument
Website: http://isaacjazz.com

GMA Spotlight Instrumental winner and Vibe Award Nominee, Isaac Agyeman has established himself as an outstanding musician. As a Canadian musician, he is most readily known for his alto saxophone solos grooving and sliding through a variety of musical genres. Steeped in gospel, jazz and classical music as a youth, Isaac cultivated his foundational training. Performing in Canada's regional Festival of Ministry, he took the highest honors as a solo saxophone performer. He then toured across Canada with the Jubilance Singers and Orchestra. Music scholarships to Greenville College in Greenville, IL and later North Central University (NCU) of Minneapolis have deepened his education and expanded his abilities to include songwriting and arranging.

He has performed with the likes of jazz musicians Bobby Peterson and Ben Harris, contemporary Christian artist, Tammy Trent, Jon and Lori Dortono and Hmong pop star Lee Her.

Isaac's abilities have also gotten him performances with members of Prince's band, including world class drummer John Blackwell, bassist Larry Gram, percussionist Kirk Johnson, drummer Michael Bland and keyboardist Tommy Barbarella. Isaac has also performed with Kip Blackshire and Chance Howard. In 2003, Isaac was invited to perform at Prince's studio (Paisley Park) where he sat in with Conversation Piece, an established jazz group in Minneapolis.

Some of Isaac's solo performances have included the Gospel Music Workshop of America's 34 national conference and a successful headlining concert at the F. J. Lindquist Auditorium in Minneapolis. Isaac is also the 2003 GMA (Gospel Music Association) Seminar in the Rockies' Spotlight Instrumental winner. Not only has Isaac received a major prize package which includes recording time in a Nashville studio, but Isaac Opened for Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith.

His recording credits include Live with Esprit de Corps, The Call with Lee Her, Make Me New with NCU's Worship live and Burn with Nico. Isaac's 2002 solo project, Here was nominated for "Jazz and Blues Album of the Year" by the 2004 Vibe Awards. Isaac was also a standout performer at the 2004 Vibe Awards in Toronto. His dynamic performance (which can be seen on CTS, PRIME, and GLOBAL Television) rendered to him the only standing ovation of the entire night!

Isaac has recently released a second album intitled, I'm On My Way, which features a saxophone duet with Kirk Whalum. Other special guests include Dadra from the gospel group Anointed, Melody Joy and Jason Ethridge.

Isaac performs on a Yamaha YAS62 Alto Saxophone.
