After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Studio Music at Concordia University in 1984, Michel Lambert specialized and obtained a Master's degree in performance from the Montreal University  in 1986. This solid instrumental training has allowed him to work in different musical areas. Notably, he has performed with the Société de Musique contemporaine du Québec,  the metropolitain Orchestra and has participated in the Canadian version of the renowned American production of The Phantom of the Opera.

A freelance musician in the Quebec jazz and show scene, he has distinguished himself since 1986 as first trumpet in the Andrew Homzy Jazz Orchestra, a group with which he has recorded several live radio programs.  He also played on stage with Bobby Shew, Phil Nimmons, John Pizzarelli and Colin James.  In 1997 Michel Lambert produced in collaboration with the ensemble Brazz, a CD called Tribute for the great trumpet players who shaped the jazz history.

He teaches now at Marie Victorin College and he is associate teacher at Sherbrooke University where he coordinates the jazz program, teaches jazz and classical trumpet and  conducts the stage band.  Michel Lambert is also clinician for Yamaha trumpets.  

 

Michel Lambert détient un Baccalauréat en interprétation jazz de l'Université Concordia et une Maîtrise en interprétation classique de l'Université de Montréal. Cette solide formation d'instrumentiste lui permet d'?uvrer dans différents domaines musicaux: c'est ainsi qu'il s'est produit notamment au sein de l'Orchestre Métropolitain et qu'il a participé à la production canadienne de la comédie musicale Le Fantôme de l'Opéra. 

Dans le domaine du jazz, notons qu'il a été membre du Andrew Homzy Jazz Orchestra pendant plus de dix années et qu'il a accompagné sur scène plusieurs artistes de renom dont John Pizzarelli, Collin James, Bobby Shew et Phil Nimmons. En 1997, Michel Lambert a produit, en collaboration avec l'ensemble Brazz, un album intitulé Hommage, dédié aux grands trompettistes qui marquèrent l'évolution du jazz.

Il enseigne présentement au Cégep Marie-Victorin et occupe le poste de professeur adjoint à l'Université de Sherbrooke où en plus de coordonner le secteur jazz, il dirige le Stage Band et enseigne la trompette classique et jazz.  Michel Lambert est aussi artiste clinicien pour les trompettes Yamaha.
